Please read this agreement carefully before using XC Connect. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. The Service

XC Connect is a cloud file sync service that allows users to store and synchronize navigation files for use with XCSoar and compatible flight computers. The service includes a web interface, an Android application, and an API.

2. Use at Your Own Risk

XC Connect is provided as-is, with no guarantees of any kind.

The service makes no warranty — express or implied — regarding availability, reliability, data integrity, or fitness for any particular purpose. The service may be interrupted, degraded, or permanently discontinued at any time without prior notice.

You are solely responsible for maintaining your own backups of all files. Do not rely on XC Connect as your only copy of any data.

XC Connect is a file storage and sync tool only. It does not validate the accuracy, currency, or legality of any files you upload or use. You are solely responsible for verifying that all files — including airspace files, turnpoint databases, and tasks — are correct and current before use. XC Connect is not certified or approved for any safety-critical purpose. Use of any files stored or synced through this service is entirely at your own risk.

3. No Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, XC Connect and its operators accept no liability whatsoever for any damages, losses, or consequences arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to:

  • Loss or corruption of uploaded files
  • Service outages or data unavailability
  • Errors in any files used with a flight computer
  • Any incident, accident, or injury

By using this service, you explicitly acknowledge that XC Connect bears no responsibility for any outcome resulting from your use of files stored or synced through the service.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account, including files shared via guest tokens you generate. You must not allow unauthorized access to your account.

5. Acceptable Use

You must not use XC Connect to upload malware or illegal content, attempt to access other users' accounts, or disrupt the service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and distribute any file you store on XC Connect.

You must not use file sending by email to send unsolicited messages, marketing, or any file you do not have the right to send to the recipient. Every such email carries your own email address as the reply address and a link the recipient can use to block emails from XC Connect, and you are responsible for all messages sent from your account. Sending limits apply, and being blocked by recipients or other misuse may lead to suspension or termination under section 8.

6. Your Files

You retain ownership of all files you upload. By uploading, you grant XC Connect a limited license to store, serve, and process them to operate, improve, and develop the service.

7. Data and Privacy

XC Connect stores your email address, password hash, and uploaded files. Account and file data are used to operate, improve, and develop the service and are not sold.

The public website may use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) to collect aggregated usage statistics such as pages viewed and general traffic patterns. This is not used to sell your data. Where required, analytics storage is used only with your consent (see the cookie notice on the site). You can refuse analytics or change your mind at any time via Cookie settings in the footer; refusal limits analytics cookies accordingly. Google processes data under its own terms — see Google’s Privacy Policy.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. XC Connect reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at its sole discretion, without prior notice, for reasons including but not limited to violation of these terms, abuse or misuse of the service, excessive resource consumption, or any activity deemed harmful to the service or its users.

9. Subscription and Pricing

XC Connect is currently offered free of charge. The service reserves the right to change its terms, pricing model, and feature set at any time, including but not limited to:

  • Introducing paid subscription tiers
  • Moving currently free features behind a paid plan
  • Imposing storage quotas or file count limits
  • Limiting file retention periods and removing files that exceed them
  • Restricting upload or download rates
  • Reducing or altering functionality in any other way

Any material changes will be announced in advance. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

12. Third-Party Data

Terrain elevation used to fill in missing turnpoint altitude comes from Open-Meteo, based on the Copernicus DEM GLO-90 model, provided under the CC BY 4.0 licence.
